The Sir John Fisher Foundation is looking for up to two new trustees to join its board, one of whom should also be willing to join the Investment Committee. This is an excellent way to make an impact, through influencing how grant funding is spent in the local community around Barrow-in-Furness and South Cumbria.
The Sir John Fisher Foundation invests in organisations that serve needs and grow ambitions in the area around Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria. Their focus is community projects and opportunities which raise aspirations in the arts, music and education. The Foundation donates £1-2m per year with a portfolio of around 75 active grants. They are striving to be a supportive, flexible and open funder, deeply rooted in the local area since 1980. In 2024, the Trustees decided to incorporate the charity to modernise its operations. They are recruiting for the board of our new Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), alongside five existing trustees.
